Fifteen Minutes of Daily Discipline
by David Bryant

Every Christian needs to integrate revival prayer into the daily walk with Christ. David Bryant suggests fifteen minutes (or more) of "daily discipline." In this example, the fifteen minutes are divided among seven key areas:

* Rejoice (one minute) - praise God for what He has done, is doing, and is getting ready to do in world revival.

* Review (five minutes) - read books, magazines, other literature and most of all the scriptures to learn all you can about the nature of revival, its impact on missions and its current manifestation around the world. What is discovered during these five minutes helps create more meaning for what you do with the other ten minutes.

* Repent (one minute) - take time each day to confess to God on your behalf, and on behalf of the whole church, the specific ways in which we are hindering world revival.

* Resist (one minute) - target in prayer those points where Satan is attempting to undermine the life and the mission of the church, so as to diminish the potential for local and world revival.

* Request (five minutes) - drawing from the vast reservoir of Biblical promises, intercede for full revival in the church - both your own and in other nations.

* Recommit (one minute) - reflect on all that you have learned from the Lord and all that you have said to Him, and commit yourself back to Him to be used in answer to your prayers, whatever the cost. Also, recommit to set the pace for others to pray with you in the same direction.

* Record (one minute) - keep a journal to record whatever you sense God has said to you as a result of the previous fourteen minutes. What new understandings has He given you of revival? What new directions has He given for prayer? What new steps of obedience has He called you to take as a result of praying? How has He encouraged you to set the pace for others? Over a period of time, this journal will provide a tremendous encouragement, not only about your praying, but about how God is working in response to your prayers.

And consider this: If an individual Christian would commit to this fifteen minutes daily discipline for a year, he would add 90 hours of revival praying to his life.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

--Romans 12:2

A school teacher was approached by a small investment group, and was easily swayed by their elaborate, but risky, new business plan. So swayed, in fact, that she invested her entire life savings into the venture!

Within months, her investment disappeared into thin air and it seemed as though her future dreams were shattered. So she decided to visit the Better Business Bureau.

The official who greeted her listened to her story and then asked, “Why on earth didn’t you come to us before you made the investment? Didn’t you know about the Better Business Bureau?”

“Yes, I did know about you,” the teacher sadly replied, “but I didn’t come because I was afraid you’d tell me not to make the investment.”

As believers, you and I must always consult the Lord first when making life decisions…even when you’re afraid of where He might lead you!

To discover God’s will and experience His blessings, you must:

* Submit yourself completely to God and His will (James 4:7).
* Renew your mind daily through the consistent study of His Word (Rom. 12:2).
* Consistently remain in prayer to God (Rom. 12:12, Phil. 4:6, Col. 4:2).
* Be willing to wait patiently on the Lord (Psalm 27:14, 37:7, 38:15, 130:5).

In your walk with God, daily surrender to Him and practice the simple steps to submission above. He will make his will clear to you as you face big and small decisions in life.

PRAYER CHALLENGE: Pray that the Lord would give you a more submissive heart, one that completely trusts in His will. Then make a commitment to follow Him daily so that He can fulfill His purposes in your life.

Perfect Love Drives Out Fear

"There is no fear in love, But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment." 1 John 4:18

Fear is a tool of the devil. He uses it to keep us from God, to keep us from believing God's Word, to keep us from experiencing God's awesome love for us, and to keep us in bondage! When we fear for our salvation, it is Satan saying to us that Jesus' blood was not enough. When we fear about whether we are good enough for God, it is Satan telling us what we should already know; that we are not good enough for God. But he neglects to add the truth that God has given us Jesus to cover us with his precious blood and make us acceptable to Him. When we fear for our children, it is Satan telling us we must take control; when in reality we need to relinquish control to the Father and let him have his way with them. When we fear for the future, it is Satan who is telling us there is uncertainty ahead; when in reality our Father has all things under His control and there is no need to fear. The scripture says, "Perfect love casteth out fear." It is when we realize that God wants us to be His own, when we realize that He does not want to punish us, that he is not a vindictive God, but a God of love, that fear will disappear from our lives. He longs for us, like the father of the prodigal son who sat watching for his son to return. He kept watching, until he saw his son far up the road. He seeks for us, like the shepherd who left his flock in search of the one lost sheep. He never gave up until that lost sheep was found. In both instances, a celebration was called for. When God found us, redeeming us from sin and death, He called for a celebration over us! We need not fear Him, we need only love Him for who He is and all He has done in our lives. When His perfect love takes hold of us we will know with all assurance that He will never let us go. His perfect love will drive fear away and we can find rest in His love.

Father, release us from all fear and bondage. Help us to see that fear is a tool of the devil that will steal our joy and keep us from Your love. Help us to focus on Your unconditional love for us. It is Your love that will free us and it is Your love that will protect us and keep us safe from ALL harm. Nothing can touch us because we are Yours. I praise You for that. Let me live in Your love all the days of my life. Amen

Walk Through

Today's Scripture

“Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me” (Psalm 23:4 NKJV).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Do you ever feel like you are walking through the valley of the shadow of death? During the tough times, it’s easy to get to discouraged. I love what it says in the verse, “though I walk through…” No matter what you are facing today, know this: you are not alone, and you are just walking through. You don’t have to stop and live in the tough times. They are only temporary. I encourage you today; don’t allow fear to paralyze you in the middle of “the valley of the shadow of death.” Remember, God is with you. He is walking beside you. He is strengthening you. He is making a way of escape for you. He is lining up people and situations to bring you out of that tough place into a place of strength and victory. Don’t give up! Press on and walk through! Begin to get a vision of your life on the other side. See yourself more loving, more faithful, stronger and more blessed than ever before. As you keep moving forward and walking through, you will get to the other side and experience the victory God has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. Thank You for walking with me even in the hard times. I trust that You are taking me through my circumstances to a place of victory and strength. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dealing with Stress and Anxiety
From Mary Fairchild,

Have the cares and problems of life burdened you with stress and anxiety, robbing you of peace? Take comfort from these verses and pray the prayer below asking the Lord to lift your burdens.

"Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light."
Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)

"I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid."
John 14:27 (NLT)

"I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe."
Psalm 4:8 (NLT)

Dear Lord,
I need you now because I am full of stress and anxiety. Reading your Word brings comfort, as I ask you to come and take my heavy burdens. I take each burden, one by one, and lay them at your feet. Please carry them for me so that I don't have to. Replace them with your humble and gentle yoke so that I will find rest for my soul today. I receive your gift of peace of mind and heart. Thank you that I can lie down tonight in peace and sleep. I know that you, Lord, will keep me safe. I am not afraid because you are always with me. Please keep me daily, Lord, in your perfect peace.
Amen

You Are Alive

Today's Scripture

“And you He made alive, when you were dead in your trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Aren’t you glad that Jesus came to give us life? Think about that for a minute right now. You used to be dead in your sins and trespasses; you used to have no hope. You used to live in fear. But once you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you weren’t dead in your sin anymore. You now have hope for the future. You are alive in Christ! God wants you to live life to the fullest today. It doesn’t matter how you may feel or what you are facing, start thanking God for giving you life. Even if He didn’t do another thing for us, giving us eternal life is more than enough reason to praise and thank Him every day. Thank Him for eyes to see and ears to hear. Thank Him for the air that you breathe. Thank Him for loving you and giving you life today. Praise opens the door to blessing. As you thank Him for the little things, you’ll begin to see God moving in your life in a big a way. He’ll pour out more of His favor and blessing on you, and you’ll move forward into the abundant life He has for you!

A Prayer for Today

Father, thank You for making me alive in Christ today. Thank You that I am new. Show me how to live every day to the fullest so that I can enjoy life the way You intended. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.
Happy moments, praise God.
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

The Poem
I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.....
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God! held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
"Your name I cannot find
I once was going to write it down...
But never found the time"

Be Still And Know That I Am God

Sunday 11/4/2007

Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God....
—Psalm 46:10

One of the most awesome commands that God gives to man is, "Be still" (Psalm 46:10).

Our activity when birthed out of the flesh actually prevents God from showing Himself strong in our lives.

This doesn't mean we are to be passive or lazy. It means we are to do whatever God leads us to do, without running ahead of Him in the energy of the flesh.

We need to be careful to submit our ideas and plans to God, then slow down, and wait. Make sure there is a sense of peace to go along with the plans and ideas. Ask the Lord for His will in your life, then be still and know that He is God.

Learn to trust the Lord without having to know what He is going to do, when He is going to do it, and how He is going to do it. Just let Him do it.

If you will turn your heart toward God in loving trust, He will do what needs to be done.

God gives His highest and best to those whose trust is in Him. Be still and let Him show Himself strong in your life.

Do This:

Be still and know that He is God. Be assured that as long as you trust Him, He will never fail you or disappoint you.

Start Planting the Seeds of Peace

To enter the true Now, where a timeless intelligence awaits, awake within itself, requires first that we align ourselves with the eternal principles that are its secret foundation.

Let's look into one of the most fundamental of these empowering principles taught by every great teacher: We reap what we sow. In these so-called progressive times, this all but forgotten principle is as simple as it is prophetic. Share this simple fact with someone who hates his life, and he will hate you for the truth you tell about why he feels as he does!

Everywhere we look, people are concerned with essentially one thing: getting what they want, when they want it, and as fast as possible. The fires that fuel their appetite for this envisioned success create so much smoke that they lose sight of the fact that all they reap for their insistent sowing are the cold ashes of regret raked out of broken relationships.

If we are ever to realize the integrity and consistent kindness of our True Nature, if we long to know something of heaven while we live on earth, then we must sow the seeds that bring that higher life into fruition. One cannot expect to reap what one does not sow; and merely hoping for a higher life is not sowing true spiritual seeds, any more than climbing an imagined mountain is the same as reaching its top.

To sow spiritual seeds means that we do spiritual work. Spiritual work is always interior work first, even if, as a matter of course, this work becomes manifest through exterior action. What is this interior work by which we sow the seeds of the celestial within us? Following are four ways to sow the seeds of a higher and happier life.
We must work to not burden others or ourselves with past regrets, disappointments, or fearful future visions, even as we learn to ask truth for more insight into those unseen aspects of our present nature that are reaping their regrets even as they sow more of the same dark seeds.

We must learn to sit quietly with ourselves and wait patiently for the light of God's peace to replace those dark, noisy thoughts and feelings telling us that we have too much old baggage to make the journey home. Each time we sow these seeds through some quiet meditation, we reap the strength that comes from realizing that this silence that comes to us is our true home.

We must deliberately remember our intention to start our whole life over every moment we awaken to find ourselves reliving some past conflict. To cultivate this refreshed outlook, born of remembering that our true life is always new in the Now, is to let go of who we have been and to begin reaping a life free of anger and fear.

We must learn to look our fears, weariness, and anxiety directly in the eye, and instead of seeing what is impossible according to their view of life, sow the seeds of a new self by daring to doubt their dark view of things. Our refusal to identify with self-limiting negative states reaps us the reward of rising above their inherent limitations.

It is not enough to just sow seeds in this physical life, i.e., struggle for or make millions, invent the greatest gizmo ever, become the who's who of some social registry, for regardless of how sublime these intentions first seem, and even if their seeds should grow and flourish, they can only grow into forms that pass and fall in time. If we wish a life that is whole and loving, one that is filled with new light, then we must sow these eternal seeds within ourselves; that is our work. Make your own list of ways to work at sowing the seeds of the higher life. Set your self to the task of being an inwardly awake person and watch how you begin to reap the awareness that makes all things possible.

-- Guy Finley

I need to hear this tonight...I need to it seep deep into my spirit tonight...my spirit is vexed, my heart is burdened and my soul is in pain....

Keep your eyes on Jesus

Lest at any time you would stray from the pathway of brotherly love and spiritual truth, keep your eyes on Jesus.

When the problems of life begin to drag you down into the pit of self pity and discouragement, keep your eyes on Jesus.

When the devil comes with multiple temptations and vexes your spirit with his lies, keep your eyes on Jesus.

When men begin to persecute you and revile you because of your testimony of the Fathers message of hope, keep your eyes on Jesus.

When sickness over takes you and physical tiredness fills your bones, keep your eyes on Jesus.

Jesus sits on the Right Hand of God, our Father in Heaven, interceding with all power in heaven and earth day and night.

Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Discovering yourself
"It's in Christ that we find out who we are." Ephesians 1:11 TM

Discovering yourself

One day a boy climbing in the mountains found an eagle's nest with an egg in it. When he got home he put it under a hen along with her other eggs. When the eagle hatched he thought he was a chicken. He learned chicken behavior and scratched in the chicken yard with his "siblings." He didn't know any better. Sometimes he felt strange stirrings within himself but he didn't know what to do with them, so he ignored or suppressed them. After all, if he was a chicken he should behave like a chicken. One day an eagle flew over the chicken yard and the eagle looked up and saw him. In that moment he realized he wanted to be like that eagle, to fly high, to go to the mountain peaks he saw in the distance. As he spread his wings he suddenly understood that he was like that eagle. Though he'd never flown before, he possessed the instinct and capabilities. At first he flew unsteadily, then with greater power and control. Finally as he soared he knew he'd discovered his true self - the creature God made him to be.

Phillips Brooks remarked, "When you discover you've been leading only half a life, the other half is going to haunt you until you develop it." Self-discovery is what Paul had in mind when he wrote, "It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for." You were made by God and for God. Until you understand that, your life won't make sense. It's "in Christ" that we discover our purpose, our significance and our destiny. In other words, we discover our true selves!

Safest Protection in the World

Read Psalm 9:7-12

This passage teaches a great truth: The safest
and strongest protection we have is the name of
the Lord. "And those who know Your name will put
their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not
forsaken those who seek You" (v. 10). As I read
those words, I'm reminded that God forsook His
Son for us. Jesus said from the cross, "My God,
My God, why have You forsaken Me?" (Matt. 27:46).
Has it ever occurred to you that the only person
God ever really forsook was His own Son? "He who
did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up
for us all" (Rom. 8:32). Because He did this, we
can be sure He will never forsake us for the sake
of His Son. The Father loves His Son and says to
Him, "You have died for these people. I will
never forsake them." God's promise to us is "I
will never leave you nor forsake you" (Heb.
13:5). "Lo, I am with you always" was our Lord's
last statement in the Gospel of Matthew (28:20).

The safest place in all the world is in the will
of God, and the safest protection in all the
world is the name of God. When you know His name,
you know His nature. His names and titles reveal

His nature. They tell us who He is and what He
can do. For example, He is Jehovah, the God who
makes covenants. He is the Lord, the sovereign
king. He is Jesus, the Savior. Each name He bears
is a blessing He bestows on us.

Are you getting to know God? "And those who know
Your name (who know God's nature) will put their
trust in You" (v. 10). The better you know God,
the more you will trust Him. The more you trust
Him, the better you will get to know Him--an
exciting and enriching experience.

One of the great experiences of the Christian
life is the personal relationship we enjoy with
our God. To trust God is to seek Him (Isa. 55:6).
Today, seek Him with a desire to know Him better.

Follow the Crumbs

by Marilyn Ehle

Many cultures have within their lore stories similar to H?nsel and Gretel, a tale of Germanic origin and adapted by the Brothers Grimm: people happy and cared for, subsequent misfortune, loss, apparent escape, even greater danger and final deliverance. When the children are lost in the woods we read these words: “…as (H?nsel) walked through the trees, he left a trail of crumbs behind him to mark the way.”

How often do we feel like these lost children, wandering through a life that seems dark with dangerous shadows, not only unsure of our destination, but uncertain which fork of the road to take. Perhaps it is job uncertainty, or career choices or relationship questions. Sometimes it is even doubt about God’s love or leading. What are some crumbs on the path to mark our way?

Author John Baillie writes, “I thank Thee that this Christian way whereon I walk is no untried or uncharted road, but a road beaten hard by the footsteps of saints, apostles, prophets, and martyrs. I thank Thee for the finger-posts and danger signals with which it is marked at every turning and which may be known to me through study of the Bible and of all history, and of all the great literature of the world.”

God often directs us through the quiet voice of his Spirit speaking to the inner places of our own spirits, but He has also given us more visible crumbs along the way. It is of vital importance that we pay close attention to those crumbs.

Bread crumbs don’t seem like much, Lord, but sometimes those crumbs are all we have to follow. Thank you that through your Holy Spirit the crumbs can be magnified and thus visible to our seeking eyes.

Question: How did people now in that “great cloud of witnesses” discern God’s leading?

Feel the fear...and do it anyways...

....if you are going through hell....keep on walking through it..

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that there is something else more important than the fear.

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed in us". (Romans 8:18)
