Default How long does it take to get addicted...

How long does it take for you to be psychically dependent on methadone? I was detoxing from morphine/oxycodone and i took methadone to get through the first 6/7 days.

Today is the first day without anything, methadone or the other junk. After 6 or 7 days of using methadone (40-65mg) I am not now addicted to that am I?

I do not want to take the methadone route, but I wanted to use it to help me get through the first week of withdrawals. What do you think?

Hi bville. Im not absolutley sure if your addicted to the mdone yet but how long were you on the morphine, and oxycodone. Thats how i got started on this mdone crap because of the morphine, and i went to a clinic to get off of it(morphine) Now i am frigging addicted to mdone. I swear if i was you i would do a taper with the morphine ,and oxy before i chose mdone. I did choose mdone, and i regret it so so much. I wish you luck in whatever you choose to do. Keep in touch ok cuz we do care here. Another question are you wanting to be clean off of all opiates? Have a good day

What's the matter? You didn't like the first answer you got from me?

Look! Here is the truth: You are physically dependent on opioids. Switching from morphine to oxy to methadone doesn't magically free you from dependence. There is a reason that taking methadone kept you from feeling bad when you stopped taking morphine/oxy. All of those drugs excite the same parts of your brain. When you finally stop taking *any* opioid at all you will get withdrawals. The fact that the last opioid you took was methadone means that it will probably take a little longer for the w/d to start.

It's a good thing that you've apparently decided to quit, but you're going to need some help.

I was taking 200mg+ of either per day. I was on it for about 8-9 months.

Elbowguts, i really dont think you know what your talking about. Sorry. Detoxing from oxycodone/morphine while using methadone detox's your body from the oxycodone and morphine and elimnates most of the withdrawals. Its not your place to say I need help. I can do this on my own, in fact alot of people who are addicted to opiates detox on their own without any help what-so-ever. Just because you needed help or have your own opinion, don't shove it on me.

MDone is not going to help anymore than the other things you were taking, infact it's a harder substance to get off from because of it's halflife cycle.I had iussed Vikes and other softer opiods before I ventured into using MDone and it is worst to get away from as others take a week or two to get the effects from your body this stuff can take a year plus to get your life back.

If It were me I would get youself off it as soon as possible because the longer you go the harder the Withdrawal symptoms shall be when fighting to get off it.I would first off get your dose below 30mg. and then to under 10mg. and then out of everything

I tried to use OXY to ward off the WD side effects and that did not work.

I am trying to use SUB to get out of using MDone and I only used 30mg. for alitttle over a yr. and tried to go coldturkey and I have used 10mg. for a month and it sucked!

I am using SUBTOXONE for one week and tapering using that and then I will go through one week of hell probably and then I'll be out ,god willing.

The Dosage you are on is high, believe it or not, even though there are those that use 200+Mg.. I am hoping that SUB offsets the sideffects and I will be off this substance andd drugss till the day I die hopefully.

MDOne is a short term answer to wean you off Morphine and OXY and then out,but your WD's from it will be worst then had you went ColdTurkey from wjat you were on.

Right now you will feel like hell for 3-4days if you were to stop or you could switch to SUB or another substance to try to cut the WD symptoms, but you can only use SUB if your daily dose is below 30mg..

    WD Symptoms from METHADONE

WITHDRAWAL & POST ACUTE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS
    Anxiety
    Increase in blood pressure
Feeling that you're jumping out of your skin
    Diarrhea
    Vomiting
    Sweating
    Goosebumps
    Leg & back/shoulder pain
    Sleep deprivation
    Dehyrdration
    Depression

I don't plan on staying on methadone long term, in fact After day 6 of methadone, i quit using it. I have not had anything in over 36 hours and I don't feel any withdrawals at all. I've been through withdrawals several times. Instead of staying on methadone long-term, what about using it for up to 6 days for a quick detox from the other stuff and not getting my body use to mdones? It seems to have worked just as planned.

I wish I knew about the downfalls when I was on Methadone- I detoxed from hydro with Methadone- 7 months of that 'red liquid that at first tasted worse than Nquil"! I think if this worked for you then u need a 'big praise'!! :D Cause IMHO I think thats how that 'crap' should be used.

I really dont understand why people would use this long term. I really think the 6 day of methadone use helped me detox from the other stuff and also wasn't enough time to get myself hooked on it. I really did want to detox and i really dont want to go back to the lifestyle of popping/snorting pills all the time. I really think the methadone helped me detox and quite comfortably at that.

I am surprised u have had no side effects as even one tab I would have the next day feeling sluggish!

longr term use it does not work or you do not feel WD symptoms until up to 3days after,so I hope you are out of the woods.Seeing that you only used for 1 week you should have only minor symptoms, but nothing like what others go through.

Your smart not to use it ny longer!
