Dear Arlene---
Nooo, I was thinking more like shmata, like what I usually wear at my current weight.
But that is because I am not very religious and don't go to shul like I should-----Shmae, shmae on me.
Love, Dee (hanging my head in shmae)

Shikana(?)
Do you know of a word that is like that which was used for the Radiant Being of God or close to it.
I only have one book which told about the old Jewish Sages. It was very good book which I still have around someplace.
I will look for it when scouring through my collection most of which is in boxes.
TIA

You're too funny!
Yup...I understand about the shmata's. I used to wear the proverbial "caftan" (mu-mu's) everywhere I went. I get it![xx(]
No hanging in your head in shmae or otherwise (no kidding here, baby doll). [:X][:X]

'Morning Larry ~
I think you mean [u]Sh'khinah</u>...the Presence of G-D.
Perhaps the book regarding Jewish Sages you're referring to is [u]Pirkei Avos </u> (Visions/Ethics of the Fathers). It's a doozy...something I've been studying for more than 3 years. That's where the quote on my signature line comes from (Rabbi Hillel).

Dear Arlene,
I'm so sorry, my bad. I couldn't help it, it's just that I was L'ing my A.Off about the picture in my head of you holding on to your tush.
Or, was that kvelling my A.Off? [ )]
Well, At least it wasn't kvetching my A. Off.
Love , Dee (my own tush too big to hold onto--oh, the shmae of it !)

Rabbi Hillel-I am not of Jewish decent, but I found the writings interesting.
I have heard the name and I think he is the one that wrote the book or is mentioned.
Sh'khinah...the Presence of G-D
I have been in his presence!

If you’re reading this, odds are you’ve already made a decision to come off of Methadone.
Having kicked 15 years of MMT...@250mg per day, 47 months ago, I would like to share my experience and some tips…that worked for me.
The process is difficult. It takes endurance. It takes work. It takes committment. It takes willingness. And that being said, once you've made that decision and follow through on it, I can tell you that what lies on the other side...being clean & sobriety...is well worthwhile any fight you might undergo.
Each individual will experience the following to varying degrees dependent upon your time on MMT, dosage, age, other pre-existing physical and emotional issues. Not everyone will experience each of these side effects. The WD symptoms & PAWS are a waiting game and you have to play it out to end.
[u]<center>THEY ARE HOWEVER, A NORMAL PART OF THE PROCESS…JUST NOT PLEASANT.</center></u>
[u]WITHDRAWAL & POST ACUTE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS</u>
Anxiety
Increase in blood pressure
Feeling that you're jumping out of your skin
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Sweating
Goosebumps
Leg & back/shoulder pain
Sleep deprivation
Dehyrdration
Depression
Lethargy
Rapid-fire sneezing
Runny eyes/nose
Unrelenting coughing
[u]
NON-ADDICTING COMFORT MEDICATIONS</u>
Clonodine: BP med (you'll need an RX). It both lowers your heightened BP as well as lowering anxiety. VERY effective
Antihistamine: For sneezing/runny nose/runny eyes
Immodium: For diarrhea (also can take edge off); Caveat...don't use this for too long. Switch to something like Kaopectate as soon as you can
Quinine: for leg spasms
Advil/Motrin for same & back aches
Valerinan Root/Melatonin: for sleep
[u]
HELPFUL HINTS</u>
Drink LOTS of water and/or Gatorade to replace lost electrolytes
Eat bananas to replace potassium...helps with muscle spasms
Eat small amounts frequently (non spicey)
Stay AWAY from caffine (including sodas with caffeine)
Take LOTS of hot showers/baths...until you're like a prune. It's emotionally soothing and helps with spasms in back/legs
Heating pad on lower back & on calves can help
The sleep deprivation is probably the longest lasting effects of Methadone WD. It's frustrating, it's anxiety producing and depressing...but you won't die from it.
Exercise...lightly in the beginning. You can start by walking. Build up your endorphin/serotonin levels. This will greatly aid with sleep, depression and energy.
Keep your goals VERY small to start. Just getting up and showering may tax your energy level. Make sure to eat and drink water.
And most importantly, remember THIS TOO SHALL PASS. DON'T QUIT BEFORE THE MIRACLE! G-D'S SPEED IN YOUR JOURNEY.

Hi Cheryl ~
Welcome again, my dear.
You and your husband are having a tough time, huh?
How much Methadone are you both coming off and for how long were you on? Can you give me a little more insight.
Also, where in California are you? I'm here too. Warmly, Ar

This has been the most helpful thing I've found so far. thanks!!
I'm on day 12 of w/d and no sleep for about 3 days, well maybe an hour or 2 it's really hard tell when your laying in bed twitching all night. I just can't wait to sleep, I slump through my job, trying to look productive, and it's really frustrating. Sweater on, sweater off, I'm twitching at my desk, I can't stop shaking. You know what I mean. I'm giong to try what you've listed and see if it does any good. Thanks again.!!!!

You're very welcome, Morrighan! I'm delighted you found it. Not delighted you're feeling like crap, however.
Day 12 is terrific, my dear. Can you tell me a little more about your length of time on MMT and dosage that you came off?
Yes...I think we all relate very well to the WD symptoms you've described to a tee.
And unfortunately, you have described the most unpleasant aspect for most us...the dreaded sleep deprivation. Tossing...turning...twitching...kicking...legs like knots. I remember the fits and starts of 20 minutes here and there and waking up like a deer caught in head lights. Sound right? S*cks...big time.
The thing about the sleep problems...as difficult as it may be....is that there's an end to it. And as frustrating as it is...you won't die from lack of sleep. Just kind'a miserable for a bit...otherwise, its solely an inconvenience. Try Valerian Root and hot showers before bed to relax...no caffeine, huh?
Regarding shaking....have you checked your BP. Do you know if you'd benefit from Clonodine or are you talking about shaking from an internal cold?
Hold on, kiddo. Just hold on. It's going to be okay. Honest. Warmly, Ar

Hi Karen....I remember you!
Weren't you on MMT for 14 years? Have you made a decision to start your detox at this point? You said something about 2 years, but I wasn't clear whether you were saying that you're staying on MMT for another 2 years or that you believe that after finishing the detox it will take you another 2 years to recoup.

thats so kind of you to be doing so well and still taking the time for us. So you know Im over the detox point...just at the hell paws! Im getting this itchyness at night , like I havent taking a bath in years... Im hoping thats a good sign(meaning the craps comming out) as you know Ive been having a hard time...its so long! Hearing you say this too shall pass makes a difference. I just dont think I have anything in me anymore! The suggetions you gave are great, but I have to ask, how did you cope with being stuck in the house for so long after detox, as we both know, we want to go out but cant do much ...this is causing problems. Thankyou for excisting!!!!!!!!!!!!
