Default Fast Meth Detox

Hi all,
My name is Brian and ive been addicted to opiates mainly heroin for 7 years. It got to the stage where i didnt think i could go on and the project i was attending thought i was best to get on MMT. I started 15mths ago on 100ml and im now at 75ml.
Ive been reading posts on this forum about other withdrawel options(sub etc) i can say ive never heard anyone mention any these at any clinics iv attended. The British govs answer is to stick everyone on methedone.
Anyway the point of this posts is that from next week i think the clinic is going to do a rapid detox and reduce me weekly from 75 to 60, 40,20 then 0. I am so scared i dont want to go back to that lifestyle.
I must add that this is mostly my own doing, for the most part ive handed in heroin free samples its only in last month my use has got out of hand. I was given 4 appointments and told if i miss any im off and i had to be clean again by 3rd appointment. During the 1st 2 weeks i reduced my use to only totally sporadic occassions. For the 3rd appointment which was tuesday past i am totally borderline. I have had the H out my system in 3 days b4 so thought it would be ok again as i had been unwell for previous 2 days(sickness sweats etc u know what i mean). I even went to sauna and steam room twice to help clear my system. Dont know if that will help but thought it was worth a try.
I now realize what a idiot i hav been and havnt used since then. The more i read the less i wish hadny went on meth but thought it was good for me at time.
I am so serious now about getting clean altogether that even if im struck off my meth im ready for it. Any thoughts on all this would help me greatly. Im very scared of such fast reduction. I have CT of the herion b4 and the last time i said i couldnt put my self through that again but the more i think about it, maybe ive forgotton but i think i could do it.
My girlfriend is also on meth but her program is safe and she is tapering well. I would move out 2 my mums even though this will break her heart again just to give my girlfriend a decent crack at it.
Thanks for listening

Hi Brian,
Dropping off methadone rapidly is pretty tough. If you're still around drugs it wont be easy.

But anyone can make it if you're ready. Do you have a Dr who could help?

It sounds as if you've begun to think about giving up drugs for good. If you go for it, just remember, it has to be 100%. Usually we screw up by thinking we can use just once. Good luck

Hi Dave, the problem with all the doctors here is they dont really want anything to do with it and just refer you to the clinics i have been attending and there answer is MMT. Apart from the last month i have done great all my samples have been clean, i actually moved away from the area i lived to start a fresh. Everthing was good but someone i know who sells H has moved in right accross the road from me. I wouldmt even take a bag for nothing right now. I can get extra meth of people i know to help with this reduction, i can also get valium to help. What else could u reccommend. Is it just me or does that reduction seem quite severe..75-60-40-20-0 over 5 weeks. I have been working and am prepared to quite my job to concentrate on thsi detox 100%. I have to giv it my all. I know that i will not be easy but like everyone else in our situation there comes a time when u have had enough. I know its easy to write this here we'll see what i write in next 5 weeks. I have to do this.

Hi Brian...and welcome.:)

Having the ability to quit your job and take this to the mat is hugely to your benefit, Brian. You may very well require that....particularly going from 75 to -0- in 5 weeks. Its a toughie...but all things are possible when you want it badly enough.

However...as Dave pointed out...using to mitigate the WD effects will negate any effort to come off of the MMT.

The thing that concerns me is that you have the ability and opportunity to hang out with people who are still using H* or Methadone and because of this, I'm extremely hesitant to advise you to get more Methadone to help with this detox. Unsafe companions evoke dangerous behavior.

Can you get some Clonidine, Brian? Are you familiar with its uses. There's a sticky on the forum. Do you get any takehomes which you can use as your own taper doses?

Hey Brian, like Ar suggested I would defo ask them to provide you with some meds, ask for britlofex as they often start that whilst still on it, (when the taper gets uncomfortable) and build it up to its full effect for when you reach zero. If you suffer from the whole leg thing quinnine can help, and maybe 1wk of zopiclone or something for sleep.
I know what u mean about the gov' sticking everyone on meth, although subutex is becoming more popular now here in England, meth is cheaper long term for the NHS....<<<and thats half the problem.

Wishing u well. will keep you in my prayers. xx

Hi Brian!

I love your honesty and candor. I also look foreward to "watching" your next five weeks! I think you are sizing up the ENEMY and you "see" that you can win! I think you are also seeing what life WON'T be, if opiates are on the scene AT ALL, Yes?

I tapered from between 120-240 mg Methadone a day, to zero in 9 or 10 weeks. Very fast, the later part of those weeks! I am so glad that <it> is imortalized, in part, back on these pages! I believe it's page 18, May 2007, my, "5 Weeks" Brian. Now, it's your turn.
It's a beautiful journey Brian. There will be a lot of laughs with the tears, and you will have a cheering section unlike any you've EVER even imagined, K?
Welcome Brian!
Love and Respect,
Jill

get off the meth! you just need to deal with the addiction to H first so you dont wind op in the same spot. meth assisted in ruining my life. A fast detox for me was easy(but in the hospital)its the months later that hurt...just go for it,meth is evil!
