I feel so better prepared for my sub apt on thursday because of all the advice I have gotten here. It is so amazing to be able to be honest with peole who understand. I have never been able to talk to anyone about this and you have no idea how much it is helping me. Not judging or scolding me. I am so thankful to have found you all.
I feel so much better. I just read all the "you might be an addict" posts in the "lighter side" and added some of my own. I cant believe someone esle has pretended not to know how to pronounce vicodin to the doc when asked "what normally helps" so he would think I am an innocent. It really is a small drug world and we all act so much alike in many ways.
Ther is one more "you might be an addict" I didnt write in my post that I could not bring myself to do but I will now...
You might be an addict if you found your sister dead on the floor fron ODing on percocet and finished her left over perc supply.
I'm still open to advice on my first sub apt. Thursday..hungry for information and expectations.

Well, I thought I was just so sly with the mispronouncing the vicodin thing. Pretty soon that's going to be one of the tip offs to these docs... a rash of patients who can speak perfectly except when it comes to the pronounciation of some opiate. ;)

I'm very sorry about your sister, what a tragedy. But rest assured that most of us have done some pretty horrendous things for our addiction. I stole pain meds and fentanyl patches from my dying motheer who was in excruciating pain. My justification was that I needed it and she could always get more. Nice, huh? But we cannot change the past, the only thing we can do is change our future. And we can change our future. Congrats on taking the next step and keep posting! Let us know how it goes on Thurs with your sub doc.

I had to laugh at the "pretending to mispronounce vicodin" too! Crissy I am glad you have found support with the forum. I feel the same. It really is a life line. I'm so sorry you lost your sister, but I am sure that I time like that you would have wanted to numb yourself. I know you feel bad about what you did, but really we all do/did atrocious things that we arent proud of. The fact that you have remorse, proves your a better person now.... Good luck with your appointment thursday. My advice is if your going to use sub, do it quickly - dont stay on it for longer than a month... thats just my advice. I am sure that you will find far more expert opinion than mine.

I used to ask for the ever popular "vico-something".
