OK...lots of pain from the stupid hystero-sonogram this afternoon. Suffering here.

I'm going to ask again...because my message is lost in another board...

...has anyone ACTUALLY taken an opiate (percocet or similar) while on suboxone? If so, what happened?

The pharmacist told me immediate withdrawal symptoms. From what I read on these boards, I just won't feel it. So, I'm looking for someone who has actually done it.

I cannot take aspirin or NSAIDS. Allergic.

I've taken opiates on temgesics, which are pretty much the same thing. They've worked for breaththrough pain believe it or not. No w/d at all.

I'd up the sub, but I really want to go off quickly. Don't have much left and I have to pay the doc to get a refill. Rather avoid that! Spent enough on this H problem!!:D

Hi Diavolo, You asked about percocet. I just had oral surgery and the dentist wrote me a script for percocet for pain.I was suppose to take one every six hours.I guess I was just having that addict mentality, thinking I have such a high tolerance for opiates. I better take two percocets and I didn't feel a thing. I think the naloxon blocks all other opiates.

    Thanks new,

And this is while you were on suboxone? Did the pain alleviate (at least!)?

I know folks who have taken pain meds right after sub and they did not go into withdrawal that is a myth to keep poeple from using but rather didn't feel any pain relief. After 48 hours off of the sub they did. I have heard this from a few people so I believe it to be true.

    Thanks sunshine,

I'm already down to 3mg of sub, so, tomorrow I'll try not to take any. Actually, I was going to take 1.5mg today, but I mistakenly in my sleepiness, took 1.5 tabs (3mg) rather than 1.5mg!

Going to try to jump off now. 2 days at 3mgs, I hope it's not too bad!

Diavolo, just a reminder that you know how to get a hold of me if you need someone to talk to while jumping off, although this forum is like the best support network I have ever seen. Good luck! Oh, btw, just in case my buddy is taking up my computer, I'll make his dumba$$ add you to his buddy list if you don't mind. His aol s/n is like master something. Not baiter. ;) Anyway, I'm working on getting another PC but it won't be extremely soon. Time to drive home in this stupid blizzard here in OH. Good thing I only live like 5 minutes from work.[xx(]

Well, I took zero suboxone today.
Last night I was getting the 'jimmy legs' as well as anxiety and lacrimation.

I took 2 .25 xanax and I was able to sleep.

This a.m. I felt extra crummy, so I took my Fioricet w/codeine. Great help! And, lightweight stuff. So, yay!

Hi diavolo7, I'm a lil late getting in on this post...I hope you're feeling better since the hysterosonogram...I don't understand the pain that you felt (feel) from having this done, it was actually one of the lest painful that I had done before my surgery with the exception of a few cramps for a few seconds...I just wanted to suggest that if you are still having pain to let your doctor know about it since staph bacteria lurks every where...Hope you'll let us know the results of the sonogram when you get them, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you ;) ...Good luck to you jumping off the sub, I'm sure you'll do just fine...

Take Care & God Bless :)

Im interested in knowing this answer so I am going to ask my doctor tonight when I speak to him. I am on the subutex right now and on only 2mg. So to not take that for 48 hrs is cake but I will probably sleep for most of it. That seems to be my biggest issue is sleeping and not having energy when I dont take the sub[:0] I hate even to get up and get a drink. [xx(] thats my biggest issue not to mention the crying. Good luck. I have a biopsy Tues and then a sonogram a wek or so after. I am mid cycle and boy does it hurt already. So I know I am in for it[:p] I think I can handle it. So girl, I know your pain and I wish you the best of luck. You seem strong though and I have faith from your new dedication to this board that you are going to be fine and that you are going to stay away from the H.

    Hi everyone,

    Thanks for your support.

Yes, I certainly will stay away from the H after this horrible week!

And who knows, maybe the Percs will work better now that I've been opiate free for a bit!

Anyhow, I'm waiting for the doc to call as I write with the hystero-sonogram results. I'll post the results when I know. Thanks for your concern.
Sleepless, my cramping finally subsided yesterday. I was told I'd only experience cramps for a few seconds as you did, but I guess I'm just one big cramp! Do you get wicked periods?? Mine are so bad. Mock labor pains and changing an overnight pad every 20 minutes. Yuck!!

    Results from the hystero-sonogram:

The doc wants me to have first, a endometrial biopsy, just in case then a newer procedure called Thermal Balloon Ablation (which would mask any potential malignancy...hence the biopsy). It heats up the lining of your uterus and gets rid of it, basically. This stops the heavy bleeding for the most part. Will never be able to bear children (I'm 41 now).
Then, to scrape out the fibroids (during the same procedure).
This is outpatient with 2 - 3 day recovery.

However, it does NOT stop the severe cramping. So, if I want to get rid of THAT as well, I need another major myomectomy, OR, a hysterectomy (only the uterus, I can keep my cervix and ovaries, thank you). These are both 6 to 8 week recoveries.
I am not a candidate for anything laparoscopic because of dense adhesions (scar tissue).
    Hmmm...wonder why I take opioids...haha.
