so has anyone gotten an enlarged liver..
and not had hep c... ive been tested to be negative when i went to detox and haven't done anything that ic an think of since to make me believe i have it (never shared needles, swapped blood etc.) yet here i am going to the doctor and apparently me liver is enlarged... funny, it didn't hurt until he said something, now i feel dull pain.. bastid... i am a hyperchondriac... but im wondering if any of you all abused pills in any way and had liver problems because of this.. not realted to hcv?? i used to drink too... yes i know this is a lethal combintion, but i don't really know anyone who has damaged their liver except my ex who had hep c (shard razors with ehr mother... not addicted to the boy... and also why i made sure to get bloodwork and get tested when they asked in detox last summer).
if this is the wrong forum to ask such questions i apologize... was just curious cause this is new territory for me. im only 23 and i'd like to think that im not dying yet... im just getting started... that would be a hard thing to explain to the fam.. any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks and iom soo sorry for all of your problems...

hmm... i was just curious if anyone has any experience with this sort of thing... apparently it may be hcv after all. yay.
my gf is clean, doesn't do drugs, isn't promiscuous, basically a real good girl.... IF i have hcv and we have been ahving protected sex together and with no one else.. how likely is it that i could have given her something?? she gave me a new lease on life... if all i give her is a virus in return.. well, that's just not going to be good.

Hello...Hep C is rarely sexually transmitted. Very rarely, almost never. Almost all cases are the result of sharing needles or (prior to 1993) a blood transfusion.
But to be sure, why don't you just go get tested again? If you haven't got it, you can't give it to anyone. And also, an enlarged liver is not one of the symptoms. If you have advanced hep C your liver shrinks. At least I think so, but I'm not a doctor, so you should def ask yours.
And you aren't dying, even if you do have it. I've had it since 1977 and I'm still alive and well. Plus there are treatments for it.
Just get tested again asap and if you are still negative, find out what else might be up with your liver.
One final thought....sometimes it takes a month or more to test positive after exposure to the virus, so if you had been abusing IV immediately prior to detox, and then were tested, it's possible that it would give a false negative result. So, bottom line: get tested again! And stop worrying, if you can. It's not a death sentence. Good luck.
