I've got bright red colouration on palms, does this mean something. I have apptment with Dr next week. If I go I'll find out. What will h.care pro advise? Should I come clean about past years of habit and or current usage or just say I booze too much. Obviously susp. hep or cirr. of liver. Can docs. be trusted? Little demi gods. Never seen one about my little "prob" what's others exp. of med. prof's attitude? Ta!

There are a couple of people around here from the U.K. with experience in your system. Hang on a while, and I'm sure you'll get their opinions. I'm just an ugly American, things are considerably different here so my opinion won't count.
But keep checking in.

Hiya mate,
can't talk long so will add more later. Basically it depends where you are as to how good the services at your disposal are. If your in London or summat then your Dr will have some experience with it and have a more open attitude. I come from Lincoln near Nottingham. The services here are crap cos its a small town still stuck in the Dark Ages! They've just started to give out Methadone properly and my Dr has no experience in this area! We have a place called Addaction here - set up by the council or something and they give the best help. They provide counselling to help you stay off and although they can't prescribe personally, they will advise my Dr. See what services they offer in your area as well as your Dr. Maybe go along to an N.A. meeting and ask the people there, it'll also offer support which is great to help you STAY off!
I didn't admit it to my Dr for a long time either. I didn't want it on my records. But I soon realised that I couldn't deal with it alone and it was much easier than I expected. If you know any other addicts in your area its worth asking them who their Dr is and what he's like - they'll know the best Dr's to see. And if by chance you find your Dr has some kind of an attitude problem then make sure you change to someone else! Just keep doing this until you find a Dr who can help you
Its a huge weight off your mind and they'll be able to give you something so now you can take a sensible approach to getting off for good. We also have the Clinic at the hospital but you're usually referred there by your Dr. You have an illness so don't be ashamed to ask for help!
This site's great for support and advise so keep in touch and let us all know how you're going. Its wonderful to have another Brit around and I wish you all the luck in the world.

P.S! There's no point lying about your problems as then he/she won't be able to help you at all. He needs to know the facts. I hope its nothing serious! How long have you had a habit and how much are you using at the moment? Do you want to give up?

Hey thanks for taking time out to reply to me. A lot of forums can't be bothered talking to newcomers. Is this site like eh, safe? I mean from the law and stuff? Can you talk freely? I guess so from what others have written but hey, this whole scence is like paranoia city! Are you eh ... clean? For long? Is/was everyone into smack? Thanks for your advice about doctors, I don't know this one, yet, so I'll have to go and see. It's a woman so that should be OK, shouldn't it? I mean women tend to be more sympathetic than men- don't they? I'm a bit reluctant to spill my guts on line right out, you know how secrative this whole trip is, especially when your one step removed from the real world. Thanks again. Maybe if you tell me a little about your "career" first it might loosen me up a bit. I see your not exactly a veteran of this site either, but you have a lot more posts than me under your belt. Are most of the folk here in the US?

Welcome....you have come to the right place to gain knowledge about your addiction and to get answers to you rquestions..
Yes, many many of us are/were heroin addicts but there are also many who have pain pill addictions. You can be as anonymous as you want to be. If you don't post personal info like your real name, adddress, whatever...then no one will know who you are.
Most of us talk pretty freely and openly on this board. It's not a crime to be an addict. Of course heroin is illegal but it's not like we're selling the stuff or promoting drug use here.
People are from all over but most seem to be from US, UK, and CANADA.
There is no need to pressure yourself into spilling your guts. If you just want to read only and not post at all then that is fine too.
Feel free to say whatever you want. As much or as little as you want. Ask any questions you have. You will get replies and answers....there are literally hundreds of caring people that come here. Some have been clean for awhile, some are still struggling, some are on maintainence programs. A wide variety of addicts here.
I would really like to know what the doctor tells you about your red palms. Would you mind posting a note to let me know? Are you an IV user? Do/did you shoot in your hands or wrists?

Oh god Slim, what am I gonna do. I'm sucking roasted! My whole stinking world just collapsed. I won't wait for it. Rather catch the proverbial ASH bus. Suspected what it was all along. Now I know. What's the point in visiting some moron doctor who is too busy writing up his notes to save time during the consultation than look you in the eye. Your just a piece of meat to them. Need to get, litre of vodka.

Hey hey hey don't panic yet! It doesn't mean you've got something nasty, like Rikaard said he got red palms from hitting up. You don't know what it is until you see a Dr, they're not all morons, mines a sweetie, doesn't know much but hes learnin for me. Don't panic until you know whats happening.
Good Luck babe!

Yeah your right Loop. Just like me to jump off the first bridge I come to instead of going across it to the next place. I never did much shooting up so it's not a vein or circulatory problem. But then unless I was very unlucky the few odd times I did shoot it's not likely to be hep C either. Is it? Is hep C IV xmission. Who knows. Too much for my little smack rat brain today. Haven't slept for three nights now. Lots of people in UK smoke the gear off foil. Chasing the dragon. We get brown here, not white. White is not good to smoke. Brown smokes and shoots. You get .4 for about twenty US and the quality is very high at the moment for some reason. Which is screwing my routines. Up all night strolling the net. How I found this site. Think the UK is served by Turkey or Pakistan. The better the gear is the worse it is for us mugs. Yeah you get stoned again for a few days, get to do a bit of nodding out but after that it means only one thing the one thing it always means in this living hell ... a bigger habit!!!!

Hey where r u?the brown here is crap quality anyway yet everytime I decide to give up for good, some really good stuff comes in. I do a bit of white sometimes but don't really like it (or like it too much!). Mainly I just smoke dope (hash) apart from brown.
Sending luv your way

some people may say that we shouldnt be talking bout this ****, but i live in the south coast and spend time in London and before I went on the subutex all we got was very average usual "brown smack" where you needed half a 1/16 jus to get off on it.
what we get in the UK is the **** from pakistan/afganistan all the crap that no one else wants.
I didnt even have much of a habbit and I had to do half a teenth just to keep myself straight, so i dont know where u go maybe u know the turks on a personal level, otherwise its all the crap from Liverpool that they palm out for gear.
And people will except it as there aint got **** all else.
Generallly we dont get "china whit in the UK. just the dirty bashed up brown crap, that u dont really need we all just have to get a life and make a 100% effort and we will be ok, all of us have so much to offer, we are ALL great people \who deserve more.
F#<$ it man i just noticed I got a STAR yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hey partypooper...I can honestly say my doc saved my life! After 10yrs on H and several cold turkey and methadone attempts at withdrawal - all of which failed - I found a young inexperienced but very sincere doc who learned with and from me. After 2yrs on bup I am now 7 days off it and well over the worst of the detox - almost 80% normal! It's over 18 months since my last one off taste! And even though the gear here in Oz is good and affordable I don't feel like scoring!! Too much to loose after such a long time clean. You need to be ready for this coz your whole life is gonna change and guess what - YOU DESERVE IT. More power to you bro - take the plunge and really mean it!
