    Default Tussionex Suspension Cough Syrup

This stuff is liquid GOLD!!!! (The color is a golden hue). No alcohol, just 10mg of Hydrocodone per teaspoon. The taste is sticky sweet (it has lots of CornSyrup in it to make it taste like candy!!!)The stuff is really expensive and is NOT covered by most insurance. Does anyone out there know when this drug will run it's patent course and become a'generic'??? I do not abuse this drug but if and when I need cough medicine, I DO request this brand. I have never been into heroin, etc. but would guess that the feeling that a 'good swig' of this concoction is pretty close. Anyone else out there know what I'm talking about? Talk 2 Me. [?]

I know exactly what you are talking about.
My question to you.If you are only taking your meds as prescribed and in no way abusing them, what prompted you to get on a detox and recovery board?
It seems odd.It also makes me very suspicious when anyone starts a thread praising the wonderful effects of a narcotic.
    Maybe Im just being cynical.
Anyway, welcome and maybe you can enlighten me.[8D]

I have to totally agree here Tim, BECAUSE when I read this post, being only on my 5th day of Detox from Oxycodone, it made me WANT a pill REALLY BAD! But you know what?? I'm handling it. This just made me think hard about asking for a script for it since I do have chronic bronchitis. I pray that persons will realize before they post what they are speaking about first!
    God Bless,

    Hey...
after Flushing my meds down the disposal....I went to my Mother-In-Law's and found her big Ol' bottle of that Liquid GOLD. Didn't touch it, again...another success for me, each one makes me feel better.

So yeah...agree with above posts...be careful. Is that really all you are taking? If so you are really lucky and if you have been taking as r/xed you should not have w/d. If taken as RXed you will do fine. If you are taking a bottle a night you will have w/d and are not fine.

Hope you are early in this....like Tim said....any more info?

Thanks for the nice replys. I am so sorry that I used those adjectives in regards to the cough medicine. I guess it's the songwriter in me...I am much more interested in the REAL gold (records on my wall)- than what I called 'Liquid Gold'-I used those words in regards to the cost-as far as 'sticky sweet'- well, it IS!!!It is STICKY and because of the corn syrup flavoring, SWEET. As far as what prompted me to come to this board and write, I have found myself over the last 25 years in and out of recreational drug use. I think reading some of these stories and replys helpful to me and where I'm at now. I really am sorry to have made some of you upset. That was never my intention. My family is dealing with a member who has been to rehab twice and needs to be there NOW- but unlike this site (opiates, pain meds, etc.)CRACK is his world. We haven't heard from him in over a month. Please pray for him and my family as we deal with this horrible situation. Once again, sorry I didn't explain more about my first 2 posts. Hope I'm still welcome-I really do find comfort reading the other posts and I will say a prayer of strength to help all of you who might need it.

I have used tussionex for my severe allergies for years, It is very potent. I have found that if you need to come of of other strong opiates it is an exellent taper med because of its time release. Yes, I know what you mean by the taste, its the only cough med that dose not taste like $hit.:)

Thanks Mikeyboy!!!I was NOT promoting everyone to go out and get a bottle ASAP. I think the taste is why i DO prefer it (WHEN NEEDED!!!!)because I don't like any alcohol flavored syrups. It doesn't take a scientist to figure out why a lot of "scratchers" would like this stuff. 1 teaspoon every 12 hours should tell you somethings up in the "Strength" Dept. As I mentioned in my first post about this stuff, never having been into anything that makes you 'nod' and 'itch'...this stuff DOES do that to me. I would advise ANYONE that has a problem with opiate type drugs to steer clear- I know this is OLD NEWS to LOTS of you out there- but you gotta remember, we gotta try and advise the next generation that don't think about their grandmother, etc. having some heavy duty stuff in the medicine cabinet, they might be looking for something that has a familiar name. The same sweet grandmother that is telling her great-grandkids about the evils of those 'Nasty old OxyContins on the Local News' (and THEY ARE)- well, enough of Grannys cough medicine will do the same thing if abused....ADDICTION,OVERDOSE and DEATH!!!! Not worth it kids. Take it from old Uncle Opry.

Being a musician I can relate to the effects of this stuff. we all used to take it. It was also in pill form eliminating all the nasty stuff they put in the syrup. the perfect drug. better than a lot of oxys currently out. they discontinued the pills, pity. We would jam for hours on end. We got tee-shirts made with the logo Tussionex. I stopped taking it when they changed the formula to deter abusers. But I think they actually raised the hydrocodone amount then changed the taste to a real sweet. But I just learned that Tussionex contains 10mg of hydrocodone per teasp. No wonder the stuff was so good! We all thought it had only 5 mg. of Hydro.

Ah yes, all those cool doper memories. I'm just trying to imagine a band drinking enough Tussionex to wear matching t-shirts. Yikes! Did you guys ever wonder why you weren't getting any gigs? Oh well, things got a little crazy back in 2005. I wonder what clothes they wore back then?

This is not a healthy thread.....Its like hey let's sit around a campfire and bring up those good ol' memories of being an opiate user!!!! Thats not what this site is for. Its not a site to reminise taking drugs.
