    Default Detox Headaches?

New to the forum. Opiate Addict for about three years. Been clean since 13th of September. Took any Opiate that was available at the time of purchase. My problem was I didnt only injest them orally I would sniff mine! I dont see much talk about the sniffing and the addiction to that, the detox from it, and the long lasting sinus headaches! Anyone have any feedback on this? I'm wondering if I might have permanant damage, or will the headaches finally go away in time. The last stages of my use was mostly the Perks, I've also heard of the Analgesic Rebound, and wondering if I'm slill suffering from that? I'm just really wondering how long my headaches will last? I've had extensive testing thinking it's something else, blood work, MRI's etc. etc. Still feel really tired late afternoon and lasts untill I go to bed. Need some feedback please.

Not sure what your dosage used to be.. Are you off ALL opiates including Suboxone/Subutex?

My fatigue when getting off of bupe lasted about 3 months. Like you at the end of the day I was dragging, but could finally sleep! After 60 days of little sleep per night I was still hurting somewhat from the lack of real quality sleep.

Looks like a cold one here in the North country tomorrow! burrrrr

Snorting is bad for you LOL.... Maybe some nice walks in the cold air will help get the nose running and clear out the ol' snoz.

FYI I STILL have rebound sinus issues and chest congestion from being on opiates months later.

I posted this in the wrong catagory to begin with. O'well. My use was never the same. I used what I could get. Mostly Perks, but there were Oxy's, Hydro, Methadone, something called something-moraphine, they were good size orange round pills in 8mg. tabs. I used to 1/4 those, they lasted a long time. When I was using pretty bad I would buy mabye 15-20 perks at a time, and they wouldn't last long at all, I would do this repeatedly for months on end, being pill sick in between time. I can remember this time last year, I was heavy into Oxy 80's. Up to 4-5 a day for a while. Cost me alot to support my habbit. Ran out of money, and was forst into quitting cold turkey. I was extreamly sick for 14 days straight!!! I'll never forget. To sum this up, I had been clean since Sep.13th of this year, but I relapsed a few days ago with "Three Perks" sniffed one, ate two of them, and now it feels like I've started all over again. Bad headache, chest hurts, feels tight and feel tired. I had been doing really good for three months too, my body didn't like this at all. I went and minimized things and went and did this.

    Default Headaches from snorting?

Does anyone have any home remedees that would help my sinus headaches? I've tried all the over the counter products, and they dont even put a dent in it. And does anyone know what happens to all the sinus cavities after you quit the opiate sniffing? Is there alot of inflamation in my sinus's, does it induce "Dry Eye", would it create fluid in my sinus's, etc. etc. I stopped all opiates back in September, still suffer from sinus headaches! If I could end the headaches I would feel 95% out of a 100!

    honey,
you must have a sinus infection.you probably need antibiotics if you do and they are hard to get rid of.I have been fighting the same thing myself. It could have something to do with sniffing but keep it simple and go get it checked out first.I snorted other things for years and i was surprised to find out i didn't blow out my sinus cavities(they should of been).I would just bet it's a sinus infection.
let me know how it goes ok
Sinus infections also cause extreme headaches.

Did you find out that you had a sinus infection? You say they are hard to get rid of? Does a docter prescribe high dose antibiotics? I know that I dont have polups in my sinus's thats preventing drainage, had it checked out. You are suffering from same thing? It sucks, dont it. Thank You, for your responce. Me.

Took your advice, had a CT-scan late yesterday, no infection. All I can think of is that this still must be part of recovery. I figure, first point of entry of any of my opiate abuse was up my nose, so I figure this area of my body will be the last to recover, too bad it's this way because if my sinus headaches would go away I would be just about fully recovered! Going on my fourth month as of the 13th of December. I deserve a pat on the back for that. Longest I've gon before was only 30-days.

    Bulldog,
Congrats on 4 months. You DO deserve a pat on the back. I don't have any advice about your headaches, I used my opiates via a different route. It makes sense though, that snorting would damage sinuses. What about just a saline nasal spray, would that help? I have sinus problems during cold weather and saline spray seem to help as much as Flonase etc. Again, Congratulations on 4 months.

    Congrats!
Wow,I almost wish it was a sinus infection that way you could take anti's to get rid of it.I wonder if a humidifier would help at all.Are your nasal passages dry?
Also try to double your water intake.
let me know how you are doing.

Thank You for the reply messages. The only thing left I can try to do is give up the cigarettes. Maybe my sinus's needs a break from all the toxins. This is going to be hard for me because the cigarettes take up all my free time because I'm still limited to what I can do. Thank You again, and Merry Christmas.

Could it be allergies? Have you tried nasal steriods? Just a thought...congrats on your clean time! That is wonderful!

I used to work for a sinus surgeon and if it is not an infection all I can do is give you some suggestions to help with the headaches. I would reccomend using a humidifier. I would also do some steam treatments with a cloth over your head. Herbal teas help, green tea helps my headache. you could also try lavender scents and an ice pak on your head, covering your eyes. Are you also stuffy? If you are having trouble breathing through your nose, try vicks vapor strips (they sell them in any cvs, brooks, etc.) Its a strip that goes over the bridge of your nose and releases vicks which opens up your nasal airway--worked wonders for me during my old sniffing days. If you still have "dry eyes" you can also buy "natural tears" eyedrops (also sold at cvs, etc.) Best of luck, hope your feeling better.
