Default Suboxone Does NOT work!! Am i CRAZY?

Please help cuz Ive been told I am crazy by some doctors...

Suboxone and subutex do not work at all. I still feel full withdrawal... the last few times ive taken subutex I felt even worse after I took it and I know it wasnt too soon because it was 18 hours after I last used and it was in a detox. I left detox and got high because the pain was so bad. (I have a veryyyy low tolerance to withdrawal pain) I just dont understand because why can other people take it and sit there and say they feel FINE, and yet I am sweating and shaking and chills and diarrhea and the works! Ive also been given shots of buprenorphine in a detox because I told them (and they could obviously tell I was hurtin)
Anyone have info on buprenorphine not working for some people?

I forgot to mention my habit is quite large, which may be why something like suboxone doesn't work. I shoot 3 bags of dope at a time and just "get normal". I get sick every 10 hours. I do about 15 bags a day (all I can afford, but it isn't really enough).

Hey Malibu...read my thread-"about to start sub again-any advice?". Sounds like our experiences are similar....

I too just tried to get on sub and had probs,I think us heroin users are much more likely to encounter difficulties than people on pain pills etc...have heard the theory on this site that it's to do with the heroin-morphine transition which occurs in our body(in case you didn't know after you take H it converts into morphine in the bloodstream).Though some H addicts have an easy transition too. I screwed up my attempt to get on a few days ago really badly, bottled out after 36 hrs but I expect if I'd somehow found the strength to sit it out another day or so I would be on the sub now and fairly stable rather than back in the heroin nightmare I am experiencing.

A few other thoughts...18 hrs should really have been long enough but it does depend on the size of your last shot...in a detox once I had to wait 26 hrs to be sick enough to start.I think it's best to judge if you're ready to start by how you feel rather than measuring it in hours.

How much is a bag (in grams, approx) where you're from?

How much sub did you take when you tried to do the transition?

Answering these questions might help us work out what went wrong...or it could be you're just like me a a few of the other addicts here...it just seems to take them a few days to feel OK,we ain't the lucky ones who can take their first sub then go and clean the house or whatever! ;)

subutex will struggle to work on such a large habit.

try cutting down 1 bag a day, one week at a time till you get to 2 bags

then the subutex will work, if you give it the time it needs to switch

I dont know how my mgs a bag is...its $7 a bag and the size varies. One bag is pretty much equivelent to "a dose" of dope. a lot of addicts blow a bag or shoot a bag, so shooting 3 bags at once is a lot..many people cannot believe i do that much at one time. i always do 3 bags so my last dose was 3 bags. and they started me off with 4mgs of subutex. when ive tried it myself with suboxone i usually start with 4 or sometimes 8mgs.

Hey Malibu you aren't alone my friend.... I had the exact same thing happen to me.... At first, I tried detoxing myself using suboxone... BAD MISTAKE.... It didn't work and I waited the right amount of time and was in withdrawal and still got very sick after I took it.... So, the next time around I went into a detox unit and they gave me subutex instead... and sure enough it worked! Now, my habit was around 15 bags a day as well and the heroin I was doing was very strong( I live in the New York/New Jersey area).... What I did was wait around 20 hrs then I only did 1 bag and checked myself into rehab and waited around another 16 hrs on top of that.... It seems as though since I waited so long in between doing only 1 bag my receptors weren't as filled with heroin. Also, be careful if you have used subutex/suboxone in the past and keep on going back and forth between heroin and suboxone... Also, a friend of mine had a similar experience as to what happened to us and he actually went on a low dose of methadone for about a week then switched to suboxone... That worked very well for him since he was only on methadone for a week and a very low dose.... I know it's frustrating but keep an open mind and try to find alternate solutions. Just so you know I was in the exact same position as you and now I'm clean and sober even after relapsing. I feel great now that I don't have to rely on anything to feel normal... Please keep trying because it's so worth it in the end... Good luck and keep us posted.
