Okay so I'm not sure how some of you folks will handle a topic like this but I am curious and would like to know, honestly. I'm not intending to necessarily start using but I've heard several different things and for my own safety would like to know. I also have some mild prescribed opiate medication I would like to take again (for it's therapeutic benefits, honestly) and I want to know when it's okay to do so.
I've been on Suboxone since last wed, I did the 8mg, 12mg, 16mg, 12mg and finally 10mg today. I'm considering taping further while I have the supply to do so since I'm outpatient and want to leave enough for a friend of mine who can't afford the treatment I got but needs to kick desperately.
I originally thought the Naloxone was to prevent further opiate use but now I seem to have read it's the bupenorphine itself? How long before someone can get high on opiates again? How long until it's safe to take codeine cough syrup (my pharmacy freaked out when I tried to pickup the suboxone and the cough syrup simultaneously)? I have been told taking any other opiates will through me into withdrawal and I don't want that to happen because then I'll just relapse...
Does anyone know or have any experience with this?
If anyone else has any experience w/ taking other opiates while on or shortly after taking suboxone I would like to know.
I understand it is a terrible idea but I'm considering using this weeked as an experiment (I need to prove to myself I'm an addict, as stupid as that sounds). I'm curious if 48 hours from bupe is enough time or if it really takes 3 or more days?
I've been taking bupe since last wednesday when I took 8mg, then I took 12mg the next day, then 16mg, then 12mg, then 10mg and finally I took 6mg today with the intent of "jumping off." My reason for trying to get off so quickly is I want to avoid the addiction that I've read about so many times on this board. I have learned before I can't handle withdrawals and I'm lucky enough to be on leave from work so I want to get this over with as soon as possible.
Does Bupe seem to be a separate addiction or is it just an opiate continuation in people's opinions? For example, say I stop taking bupe today....will I get sick and if I do heroin on saturday will I get well and be right back where I started? Or will my tolerance/addiction have gone down do you think?
well, i may not have any answers, but i have my experience. i'll give you that and do what you will, but be careful.
ok, first time i took suboxone, i tapered down to 1/4 mg a day, not 1/4 a pill, a mg, crumbs. so i waited one or two days and did H again. nothing, i continued to do it regularly for two weeks, and then one day it just started working full force again, but for those two weeks, nothing, but yes my tolerance went down alot, but it went back up quick. i don't know why it took two weeks, going from that 1/4 mg. but even though it didn't give me any good feeling, i still needed to shoot to not get sick those two weeks. i dont know, it was weird.
