Thread: Anyone Tried Vivitrol After Detoxing from Suboxone? Did it help?

Has anyone had personal experience with treatment with Vivitrol after detoxing from Suboxone?

This member called "thisisit" used low dose Naltrexone several months after coming off Suboxone. She thoroughly journaled the details during her use of it.

I don't work in a rehab but I do run a program for people who are opiate dependent (counseling, case management, HIV/HCV stuff, syringe exchange etc.) and I have a blog/website .

I think Vivitrol sounds interesting in theory but wonder how it's worked out for people who have tried it. Naltrexone has not worked well for the people I know who have tried it because it was too easy to just stop taking the medication as part of a relapse. Vivitrol helps remove that temptation since you only have to make that decision once per month. But I'm wondering how effective people are finding it at reducing cravings. I also wonder about people's experience as far as side effects or other issues.

Tom, Please check your PMs. I am interested to get more info about the program you work for. I used to do voluteer work for a state/county run program very similar to yours and am wanting to find out more info about it.
