I took (3)Ibuprofen and an antibiotic called Clindomycin 150mgs.(I began taking the antibiotic yesterday aftn.and have had three doses counting this morn).before going to bed last night at 11:30PM. This has been going on since Thurs getting progressively worse! Are there any Opiates (or any other type drugs that will work in high doses or at all??) I was hurting so bad I took two(8mg)Subutex this morn and I am still hurting!! helppp!PingCat

Did you try ora-gel?? Or asprin? there are things for toothaches besides narcotics. it may be gross but if you take a asprin and put it by the tooth that hurs and chew it,it will relieve the pain.

Do not know if you know this but if you get novicaine why you have a infection in your tooth, it will not work, you have to get rid of the in\fection first.

Try ora-gel first.. That is what i would do. Welcome to the board and i realy hope you feel better.

If at first you do not secceed, try and try again.

    Ping,

Hi! When I started on Subox in Oct 03 everything was going great. Until. . . You guessed it, I got a horrible toothache! I talked it over my my sub doc and decided NOT to tell my Dentist. But this is what I did, I got an antibiotic. Take it as directed, the pain will be gone in a 1-2 day time. Then have it filled or what ever you have to do. I had to have a root canal. Seriously, though, I had it an only had to take motrin. The pain was next to nothing. I is the pits, but it will be okay. MOST IMPORTANTLY, TAKE ANTIBIOTICS AS DIRECTLED!!! and the pain will subside in 1-2 days...and you will soon be smilin' like him:D

Oh No, I feel for you, I really do. I have a couple of teeth that I have went through this with. It hurts sooo bad. It seems like nothing will relieve the pain. The last one I had, I would have to sleep sitting up in the corner of my bed next to the wall, I still wouldn't sleep much. It did help a little though. Ibuprophen wouldn't even touch the pain. Nothing really helps but antibiotic and it doesn't take the pain away for a couple of days. If you can just make it through those. Hang in there, it will go away soon. I'll be thinking of you. Wendy

    Thanks to"Wakeupcall"&"greeneyez",
I was able to get right into the Dentist office this morning. I have had quite a bit of work done over the years and overall my teeth are in good shape. What is really weird is that when they took an X-ray of my teeth, it showed a large Molar that I had a root canal done on with a crown that was infected at the bottom of where one of the roots ended. The Dentist showed me the X-ray and you could clearly see that at the bottom of the root, it was dark around it. I am just wondering if "root canals" are guaranteed for life. For as much as they cost, they should be. I did not tell my Dentist about being on Bup because I was not able to get in touch with my Bup.Dr in advance.I just hate to deal with people who see you as nothing but a drug addict. They gave me Keflex and Darvocet. I have not taken the Darvocet because I probably would not feel it anyways. I will just hack out the pain the next couple of days and hopefully it will ease. I am just going to take the Ibuprofen every couple of hours and pray that does the trick. Thanks to everyone.PingCat

Ping, I have had root canals that went bad. If it is really bad, you may have to have a procedure called an "apicoectomy." I would NOT recommend it while on bupe. Ouch. I have had two of them, and they are not fun. They cut off the tip of the root of your tooth.

Don't mean to scare ya. I imagine the keflex will do the trick in a day or so. Then maybe it will be fine and you won't need anything else done. I hope so!!! It's really annoying when you have all the work done, and it STILL isn't fixed.

    Sorry you are in pain!

I, too have had several bad teeth.

My suggestion is to continue on antibiotics and tell your dentist of your problem. If he isn't going to fix or pull the tooth, tell him to PLEASE use novacaine to help you with your pain.
Also, if you go into the emergancy room, they have a solution that has lidocaine and benedryl...that stuff works GREAT for your teeth.
I'm a baby when it comes to pain and this stuff takes alot of the pain away.

Good Luck to you, I'll keep you in my prayers.
I know how painful a toothache can be. Sometimes worse than having a baby.... lol!

    Oh Ping,

My heart goes out to you. This is the PITS! It gets worse. . . Root canals are NOT guaranteed. When I went back last year, I had to have a root canal. My Dentist had me sign all these papers which stated: if the root canal goes bad, the dentist at least tried. (of course in bigger words :D) Yes, you can spend ALL that $$$$ and end up with a big hole in your mouth! I want to have all my teeth out and have dentures....Seriously!!! Good luck Ping. I feel for ya!
